Best place to buy hub?

I advised someone getting ready to buy a hub to wait for the BF sale and buy it direct from www.hubitat.com.

Now I see a banner on this community forum about the Hubitat BF deals on Amazon. Hubitat staff has posted in the past that Amazon handles shipping for the Hubitats so maybe it is the same thing. I figured if the hub was bought direct from www.hubitat.com Hubitat gets a greater percentage of the sale, but they are more expensive on Hubitat.com than on Amazon.com, so big incentive to buy from Amazon.

  • Is there any downside to buying from Amazon vs direct from hubitat.com?
  • Will hubitat.com also discount the hubs for BF, or is the BF discount on only Amazon?

Wait until BF. Sale happens every year. And New Years, and holidays during the year. Buying from Amazon, people have been known to receive returned hub paired to devices, registered to someone who returned to Amazon.

Not supposed to happen, but it does. Don’t burden a new user with that.
