Best illuminance sensors compatible with Hubitat?

Hi,
What are the best illuminance sensors compatible with Hubitat ? I have the Sonoff motion sensors, but they don't have illuminance. I have the Aqara motion sensor with illuminance, but it does not stay connected. What are the options ? I see there are only Z-Wave Light sensors listed in the compatible devices, from companies I haven't seen much at all from. Any Zigbee options available on Amazon that work well with Hubitat ?

Many people use and have great success with the Hue Indoor and Outdoor motion sensors paired directly to Hubitat.
Motion, Temp and Lux.

I guess there are community drivers for them ?

No need. Both use the built-in Hue Motion Sensor driver. (See List of Compatible Devices | Hubitat Documentation)

However, while they are reliable, well-built, and have a long battery life, both Hue products are really expensive IMHO. It's a shame there isn't something reasonable priced and reliable that gives illuminance.

Indeed, they are rather expensive compared to other motion sensors.

I would be happy with just light sensors, the Sonoff motion sensors work quite well and are cheap.

They are, but the reliability is fantastic, and a good sale doesn't hurt either.
I do have some cheap Mijia Lux sensors that have been working great for a couple years, unfortunately with cheap ZigBee products from Aliexpress there's no guarantee that what they sent you last time is what they'll send you this time.
And there's a good chance the least expensive ZigBee sensors will be hard to find drivers for and they may not stay connected to Hubitat.

Want to buy all mine? They false trigger way too much for me.

really ? I have only had mine for a few weeks, but they trigger almost flawlessly. I've had false trigger when one of them was facing an air vent (presumably, some change in temperature), but beside that, they work well.

Put one in a dark box for a bit and get back to me then :). Quickly realized in several areas wouldn't be a good idea to rely on them for motion lighting. Others have suggested using combined motion sensor where at least 2 of them have to report motion to activate something.

Hallo,

I am using the Hue sensors, combined motion, illuminance, temperature, directly connected to Hubitat. They work very well with long battery life.

I actually have one under a cloth on a table, and it has not reported motion ever since I put it there (about 2 weeks ago)

I have some of these Mi luminance sensors, and find them great as dedicated for the purpose. Allows you to place them where you want (when the motion sensor placement is not ideal for the illuminance one).

Reliability has been perfect (a couple of years now), and haven’t changed batteries yet.

Size and design are also great.

Since basically everything comes from China, whats the difference? other than the overpriced stuff that I stay away from, doesn't it all really come from AliExpress anyway! LOL.

I have 4 of those and do really love them. They do work great once you get them to stay connected. They were cheap at $11 each. Sadly, they no longer seem available.

(Of all the devices I have that report lux, the Mijia ones are the only ones I use in Rules)

But the staying connected problem is big. While they are Zigbee 3.0, like many of the older Xiaomi Aqara/Mijia sensors, they are slightly non-standard. These need to have sufficient "known compatible" Zigbee repeaters on your mesh, otherwise they will fall off repeatedly. For me, it meant adding 5 Ikea Trådfri Zigbee plugs to my mesh. At least those are only $10 each (although 1 of the Ikea plugs has since failed).

I too have the Mi luminance sensors. They work great, never lost radio communications, battery life is excellent, small and inconspicuous.
