Best device for ASHP return temp?

I have a Mitsubishi Air Source Heat Pump and use the temp compensation curve to adjust flow temp based on the outside temperature.

I would like to track the temp of the flow return to ensure that my ASHP is running at the best efficiency. The ASHP monitors this to ensure it's within specific parameters but this is not made visible on the MelCloud API as far as I'm aware?

Can anyone recommend a temp sensor device to measure water temps in copper pipes? Or do I just use standard temp sensors attached to the pipes?

I would recommend recreating @ogiewon's HVAC Hubduino sensor setup. He describes it in the post linked below, with additional details in that same thread.

Very nice! That is a great use of temperature sensors! I built a custom HubDuino ESP8266 solution to add instrumentation to my HVAC Heat Pump.
