Best device for ASHP return temp?

Can anyone recommend a temp sensor device to measure water temps in copper pipes? Or do I just use standard temp sensors attached to the pipes?

I would recommend recreating @ogiewon's HVAC Hubduino sensor setup. He describes it in the post linked below, with additional details in that same thread.

Very nice! That is a great use of temperature sensors! I built a custom HubDuino ESP8266 solution to add instrumentation to my HVAC Heat Pump. It has 4 DS18B20 temperature sensors to monitor incoming and outgoing air temperatures, as well as high and low pressure refrigerant line temperatures.
