I installed the Hubitat Safety Monitor app so I could utilize it to alert me when my motion sensor batteries were below 20%, but it doesnt seem to work at all.
I selected to have a text sent to me, but even though one unit is below 20% (it is at 11%) the alerts are not getting sent or fired off.
How does the hub send text messages? Am i missing a piece?
Have you tried to send a text message with any other app?
You have to enter +1 then the phone number, if youβre in the US. I assume it would work the same way but with different country codes elsewhere.
I received a Pushover notification from mine the other day about a low battery. After looking at the driver, the battery level was reporting 1%. I don't know if it slowly went down to 1% and HSM didn't report it until then, or if the sensor possibly just jumped from 100% to 1%. If it jumped, I can't say it's a problem with HSM. The battery died the next day. For now I am giving HSM the benefit of the doubt.
Battery reporting is hit or miss. They definitely jump, and in general cannot be counted on. I've seen batteries go from 50% to dead with no message in between. "Device health" is very problematic due to this lack of consistency and reliability. You will get some devices that let you know, but don't count on all devices.
