After watching the last live Hubitat presentation concerning modes, I wondered if I should set up my motion detectors to only check for motion when my system is set to AWAY. Will this save battery life since I just use them to warn me of movement when I'M IN AWAY mode.
I don't think so.
I think they will always report motion regardless if you do anything with the report.
That's what I thought, but new to all this and wanted others views. Thanks!
Your motion sensors will only use power when they are reporting to the hub. The power required to actually detect motion is tiny compared to the power needed for the radio. But even in high traffic areas, one CR2 battery has lasted me 3 years so far in one motion sensor.
Wow 3 years! Good to know. Thanks again
