My basic rules were working last week. I added a couple new devices for holiday lighting and the basic rules no longer work. I don't see any errors in the logs. When the rule is triggered at Sunset a command is sent to Turn on specific lights. Nothing happens.
Event was triggered at 4:36 PM. None of those devices turn on. You can see that at 5:50 PM I manually turned them on.
Based on those logs, specifically the act: Turn on ... line second from bottom, the commands were sent to the list of devices. So the guessing game is what became of those commands?
Does it behave exactly the same every time it runs? You can test it by turning off those lights, then hitting Run Actions in the app (with the logs on as you had). My guess is that this is a Z-Wave mesh problem, where each device works fine by itself, but when the mesh is hit with several commands rapidly, something fails. If I'm right, then it won't behave exactly the same way each time it runs.
It is super important that you have updated to the latest release. There were issues with overloaded Z-Wave radio that were fixed in the not distant past. What release are/were you on? That's under Settings / Hub Details.
Version is 2.3.9.201. No new updates are available.
I tried splitting one bigger rule with 27 devices into 3 smaller rules with 11 or less devices each. That didn't help.
I just tried the Run Actions and that did not work. But I did notice an error Making Call to Alexa Gateway. Not sure why that would impact a direct connection with a Z-wave device. Isn't there a way to reset the whole mesh so devices re-pair with the most optimal partner?
Yes, it's called Z-Wave Repair, and you should definitely do that. Also, there are expert users here in the community who could help you sort out the Z-Wave issues. I'm not one of them. You might start a new topic seeking help with Z-Wave, using this rule's failure to turn on all of the devices as the starting point.
Thanks for your help. Everything seems to be working fine now. I updated the Amazon Echo Skill to eliminate that error and I also ran the Z-Wave Repair under Z-Wave Details in Settings.
