Bad C7 Hub

@bobbyD I have a C7 hub in my shed that has been working fine but a few days ago I lost connectivity. I cannot connect to the hub at all now. I think that the ethernet port is not working. The hub powers up and I get a green light but cannot get to the hub. I have a HubProtect subscription on that hub. What is the process of getting a replacement?

Silly question time.
Has the hubs IP address changed?

No it is defined statically in my network by DHCP.

Try connecting to http://hubitat.local to see if that finds the hub.

Have you tried http://findmyhub.hubitat.com yet? As @bobbles mentioned, maybe it is simply that the IP address of the hub has changed due to renewing its DHCP lease? (Strike that - just saw that you have a IP reservation in your DHCP server...)

A few things to try:

  1. Try a new Ethernet Patch Cord
  2. Try connecting the Hubitat Hub to a different network port on your network switch.
  3. On the network switch, do you see the normal LED lights illuminated?

Here is the link to Hubitat's warranty claim system, just in case it is not a simple fix.

Yes I have tried "http://findmyhub.hubitat.com" it finds my other 3 fine. I have switched the ethernet cable, and a different switch port (and even another switch) The switch port works fine with my MacBook so I know its working. The LED on the switch does NOT light when the hub is plugged in.

On the warranty site what do you select for the reason? There isn't one that fits my problem.

That does not sound good.

Have you tried a different USB power supply? Just a final thought...

Yes I took one from another working hub.....same issue.

@automation For giggles using a paperclip or toothpick, press the reset button on the bottom of the hub for 7 seconds and release. (it will be the only round hole out of all the square ones) This will reset the network portion of the hub only. Then see if you can get to it or get to yourhubip:8081

@rlithgow1 That actually worked! I tried it once but must not have held it long enough but the second try worked great! Thanks for the help!

@rlithgow1 Well I spoke too soon. I rebooted it and now it won’t communicate again.

What platform is it on? @bobbyd can you see his hub? @automation please send @bobbyd a PM with your mac address

Did you change any network settings AFTER you were able to get back in? And can you get to :8081?

No just rebooted…. :pensive:

I’m going to reset it again. On my way to family event have to look at it later.

If you don’t have a DHCP reservation on your router, chances are each time it reboots it’s getting a different IP address.
