Backup power for C8

I have a backup generator that kicks in about 10-15 seconds into a power failure (which happens quite often).

Is there any reason I should add a backup battery to power the C8 until the gen kicks in?

If power failures are common in your area, then it would be good to put your Hubitat on a UPS that has seamless cutover. A 10-15" delay would result in a dirty hub shutdown, and those are notorious for leading to database corruption.

I'm sure there are others too, but many folks here have had good luck over the years using either of these -- both have seamless cutover.

100% this.

I have a whole-house backup generator. But all my various hubs/computers are on UPS systems.

Yup. My power almost never goes out but I have my PC/Switches/Hub on a UPS, the upstairs TV/Deco/Switches, downstairs TV/AVR as well and the data shelf where the fibre lives with it's devices.
Event at that I had a power bump a month ago and my upstairs Google Chromecast for TV still rebooted. Everything else remained calm.

Here's another one that works great.

Yes UPS. I like these because I can use POE as power, while the UPS smooths out any power fluctuations, from the not so stable POE power adaptor. Plus I can control the quality of the lithium cells, and replace them when needed.

I also have a standby generator (Generac).
I also use a Talentcell.
I exercise it with a rule to make it last longer, hopefully.

i use apc smart ups with network cards on all my electronics.. sol i can monitor them and cleanly shutdown if power outages last.

My hub is plugged into a USB power bank, which is plugged in all the time. It works well as a UPS for just the hub. I have been using it for a couple years now, and it has worked great to keep my hub up during power outages.

do u have battery pwd extenders or switches on ups. otherwise your mesh still goes to ■■■■ on extended pwr outage I have 2 zwave and zigbee per floor that way.
