I've seen some earlier threads on this and am posting in case Hubitat staff wants to investigate further.
My C-8 Pro (2.4.0.143) does cloud backups at 02:15. At 02:20 this morning I started getting notifications that Z Wave had crashed. I didn't try any Z Wave commands to confirm it was crashed, but after a simple reboot I confirmed Z Wave devices were responding.
I still had the message on the hub that the last backup failed at the Z Wave step and to shutdown/remove power.
I attempted a new cloud backup without doing the power down, and it appears it succeeded. The alert messages also cleared after the backup.
I believe that the issues underlying this and a few other sporadic zwave issues are understood, and Hubitat engineers are working on engineering a solution. I’m hoping this will be resolved in 2025.
In the meantime, I have disabled automatic backups. I take them manually after making any “ considerable” changes that I would not want to manually re-create should the system fail and I need to use a backup to restore those changes.
I can’t run the risk of the backups corrupting the system while I’m away, a cold restart being required, and no one there to do it.
