Axis Gear Does the Right Thing!

You know what, @rlithgow1 and @harold.min raise a great point. You have motivated me to change the negative tone I created by my snarky thread title. Fixed.

Did @mike.maxwell get the firmware loaded for you?

Oh yes he did. Just waiting to return home next week to give it a whirl.

@mike.maxwell, here are my unsuccessful results from trying to update the firmware. I did this on two different units and the results were the same. See below for details.

For avoidance of doubt, here’s specifically what I did using a new C-7 with virtually no other apps or devices.

  1. Deleted and reconfigured Axis Gear device from scratch in Axis app.
  2. Included device in my HE zigbee mesh as a generic zigbee shade device.
  3. Switch driver to generic zigbee bulb, hit save, then configure
  4. Hit Update Firmware at top of device details screen (nothing appears happen on this step — nothing shows up on the logs). How long-ish should I wait?
  5. Switch device driver back to generic zigbee shade. Save. Configure.

Logs

I need to see the logs filtered on hub.

Other than the Zigbee radio looking for and discovering the device, there was nothing under Hub upon firmwareUpgrade.

open live logs, run the firmware upgrade and see what spits out then paste it here.

Nothing showed up after 10-15 mins. Should I be waiting longer?

It didn't even say initiating firmware upgrade? Enable debug logging on the device and try again...

Did that. No joy.

Yeah. I tried the same thing with the same results. No Joy, but i’m excited for any new changes in the updated firmware.

This is very odd that there's nothing in the live logs under hub when selecting the updateFirmware command.
Is there any chance you could move the device closer to the hub, do a battery pull on it and try again?

No problem. Will do and will report back asap.

Went to do this today and realized two things:

  1. I don’t use batteries (let alone the solar panels) for the motor. I mean, there are batteries in the device, but it runs off mains power.
  2. The hub is ~6 feet from the blinds.

I’ll try it again just the same.

Tried it again a few moments ago and got this message in the logs under "Hub"

Firmware update for [DeviceLabel], AXIS 109A-0013-01000000 is not available.

Which is the same firmwareMT and softwareBuild referenced in OP. Hoping this helps?

@mike.maxwell where to from here?

Can you try again?

I gave it a shot and this is what i see in the logs.

I get home Monday and will try then. @sidjohn1 thx for giving it a shot.

@mike.maxwell @sidjohn1 I tried again today with two different Axis Gears, and got the same log entry as before:

Firmware update for [DeviceLabel], AXIS 109A-0013-01000000 is not available.

Mike, what else can I do?

EDIT: Just tried on a third Axis Gear on a different hub. It still didn't work, but I got different messages in the log. In case this helps:
