sorry, looks like this was posted in the wrong section
Yes! And very easily!!
Hubitat aims to be local, so if you have locally controlled switches/bulbs that are zigbee/z-wave and zigbee/z-wave sensors, you can do all manner of automations without using either Amazon or Google.
Thank you for the fast reply, I have one more question.
Amazon sells the c7 for more money than hubitat site but it will be shipped overnight. It does not specify US or North America version.
Is there a difference? Can I safely buy the hub from amazon.
searching amazon, there is only one hubitat available and it does not specify.
I am in the U.S.
All C-7 hubs are the same except for the included power supply (the Z-Wave radio can now be set to work in any regional frequency, which was a concern with older models of hubs--and most other Z-Wave hubs still). Power on the hub side is micro-USB, so even if yours doesn't match the wall, you should still be good, but I think the difference between the "US" and "North America" version on the Hubitat site is just an issue of shipping, so if you're in the US--and even if not--you should really be good with either Hubitat or Amazon.
To add to the above, not only can you do it, but to take full advantage of Hubitat, I'd say you should. Your automations then won't involve the cloud (unless your devices do), and you'll get more power than Amazon or Google "routines" let you do. See here for an example of what one built-in app, Motion Lighting, lets you do--but there are many more: Motion and Mode Lighting Apps - Hubitat Documentation
OK purchased! It will be waiting for me when I wake up.
Thanks for your help.
Be sure to check the list of compatible devices before purchasing any smart devices:

If you're unsure, please use the community for help!
I will check that out for sure.
Yes. Hubitat offers a very powerful rule engine, that can allow you to create the most complicated rules β easily. It also has Motion lighting, android simple lighting rules, as well as bottom controller rules to make it easier to perform basic automation routines. My favorite is the Motion zone app which allows you to add one or more decoders to a zone, and control how long a zone is active once triggered, resetting the zone upon motion, and defining a few other criteria for how Motion is detected and maintained. Then you can use the virtual Motion sensor defined by it to power Motion based rules. Everything is local to the hub. The goal of Hubitat is to avoid use of the internet for device control. Itβs very powerful and yet quite easy to pickup and learn.
I'll also add to what @aaiyar said about the compatibility list. If you see a device somewhere you want to buy that's not on the compatibility list (let's say Schlage locks or a motion sensor) Chances are it's supported by a generic driver or a community supported driver. Check the forums regarding the product to see if anyone is running it and how.
Let's not. Definitely avoid any Schlage smart lock.
i have 3βof them that work flawlessly
I can find many posts that don't match your experience very easily. They were removed from the compatible devices list (twice) for a reason. That is great that you have a good experience, but it is not at all the norm.
Best not to recommend them to Hubitat Elevation owners is my point.
This seems to be changing somewhat though. Unlike with the C-4/C-5, when there were lots of complaints about Schlage z-wave/z-wave+ locks, there appear to be fewer issues with C-7 hubs. Especially when the lock is a z-wave+ model.
Earlier, my own experience was so bad, that I would actively recommend that anyone coming to Hubitat with one of these locks simply plan on getting another lock. Now, my attitude is more one of - "Try it, it may work. But if it doesn't, there are plenty of other options".
Edit - I'm still not comfortable recommending their purchase if someone is looking for a new lock.
Same here
