I am wanting to automate one of my Google Home mini/Nest mini so I am wondering if there is a way to play and pause music when there is motion.
I have Chromecast integration installed and have the Chromecast device added to Hubitat. I have tried using custom action in RM to achieve this, however, this didn't work.
I am wondering if this is possible?
Play around with the commands at the top of the device page to see what works, I'm sure I've done something on a dashboard with these...
I just tried controlling mine and comm's can be a bit sketchy, so it didn't respond. I haven't played with it for a while and it wasn't reflecting the current status in the device on HE. Once I hit initialize or refresh it showed the current status and I was able to issue commands from the Device page. Try running a refresh and see if your rule starts working, at least to understand what the problem may be in your case.
I have found it to be very unreliable with commands as it doesn't reflect the current status. Even refresh doesn't work a lot of times for me so it likely isn't going to work until the app is out of beta unless there is another app which can do this.
It may also be relevant what hub platform version you are running, if only for others to assess your experience. I am on 2.2.9.146 and am also experiencing issues with status and comm's generally like I described, but I rarely use these devices, even less via HE. That said, I am interested to develop a driver for picking up details on what is being cast to these devices, using Tasker, so am happy to help improve the user experience in this space.
There have been some recent efforts to improve comm's with these devices, so people like @gopher.ny may be interested in your (and my) experiences.
I am running the same version. I am also using them for HSM announcements but they have never been reliable. Also tried to automate my TV backlight based on Chromecast but it only worked once or twice so I gave up.
I would like to get them working with Hubitat if possible so let me know if you need more info.
Then I think working with HE staff is probably your best bet, if you are having issues. Hoping you / we can ride the wave of the recent focus on these devices.
