I’m not a zigbee expert but wondering if the experts here know. Could you force the new device to route through an older zigbee device as a scheme to make it downshift to earlier zigbee?
Yeah, what he said. Lol. Is that possible? I know some of my plugs are zigbee 3.
Later today (I'm not home right now) I will try to force the button to pair with a zigbee 3.0 mains powered device with the (zigbee map 3.0.4 app) and I will post my results.

Well, I tried to use zigbee map to force the button to pair with my T/R plugs, and all my other plugs. I also tried to pair to my USB powered devices with no joy.
So, the verdict in my eyes is:
No, forcing a odd device to pair with through a good device will not make the odd work as intended.
It was a good idea to try it.
I sent it back to Amazon for a refund.
