I'm fairly new to Hubitat. I've been using it with a lot of success. I was a Wink user and a Smart things user as well. However, I'm having trouble with one of my rules.
Here's the situation: I have a rule that when I arrive at my house it opens my garage door and turns on a series of lights. That seems to work fine. After that, I'd like the reverse to happen. Turn off the lights and close the garage door.
I've tried creating the rule 3 different ways.
Way #1: 5 min after no activity from my motion sensor when in a mode I call arrival. That worked once and subsequent arrivals nothing happened. (This is how I set it up in Smartthings)
Way #2: I tried using the delay in the arrival rule and created a second rule to close the garage door. In that scenario, the garage door closed but the lights didn't go off, so I moved the lights over to the garage rule and it never worked again.
Way #3: I deleted the rule above, and re-created it so that the lights and garage door are triggered 10 minutes after my arrival. For fun I renamed it differently just in case. After 10 minutes the lights went off but the garage door didn't close.
Not really sure how to troubleshoot this or make it work more consistently. Any help would be greatly appreciated
Right click on Logs in the left pane of the Hubitat UI, and pick Open in new Tab. This is Live logging, just like SmartThings. It opens blank, empty. As events occur, the logs show, newest at the top.
Run your scenarios and look at the logs. Like with SmartThings, you can "zoom in" on specific devices by clicking their names at the top. "Zoom out" by clicking "All" in the list at the top. Do not refresh the page because it always starts blank.
Additionally, on the Apps page, there's a blue i to the right of every row. That shows details of the app, such as the current state of a boolean. At the top is Events, which zooms in on what that app row has been up to.
For the community to help with specifics, you need to present specifics. Screen capture your Rule(s), paste them in. Seems like there's someone reading these messages all the time.
Thanks for the quick reply. Just left and came home this morning, and the garage door didn't close again but the lights went off. So that's a step in the right direction.
My garage door is a GoControl Linear using the generic garage door driver. I've also attached the rule and logs. It looks as if there is no command being sent to the garage door. Thanks again all.
I also just noticed that the I'm back Off rule is supposed to switch the mode to "Home" and it didn't do that.
Could you post screen captures of your rules as @csteele suggested. Good to see the resulting logs together with the rules, but difficult to asses from logs only. I do note that your log shows "Garage 2" turned on, then opening, then open. So if the intent is to close, it appears on the surface that the opposite is being executed.
Sorry for the confusion on the logs. The events that happen at 7:52 are my arrival that is functioning correctly. After my arrival the next event triggers 10 min after at 8:02.
I just left and arrived again. I've included just the log for the lights off, closing of the garage door and mode change. The good news is the same thing happened as earlier. This is the first time the rule has done the same thing twice in a row! The lights went off, but, the garage door did not close and the mode did not change. I've also included screen shots of the rule.
Thanks again
I think I just figured it out! I had the delay set in the wrong place. This screenshot should fix it
It looks like it worked sorry to bother you all
