Arrival Light ON: RM or Geofence?

I'm just starting to use RM 3.0. In Wink, we had option to set option to control a light switch whenever my phone or my wife's phone entered an area of our neighborhood which was defined by our physical address (geofence I guess--can't remember).

I want to turn on an exterior light when we arrive between 8:00 PM & midnight using our phones or keyfobs as presence sensors.

I created a simple rule using these times & sensors, but the lights come on EVERY night at 8:00 PM rather than when we "arrive".

I assume this is because the rule is detecting our phones as being present at 8:00 PM since we never left the house before then.

I see no "arrival only" or whatever to trigger the rule as I didn't want the lights on at 8:00 if we are already home...only when we arrive.

I see the new mobile app has a geofence feature but I haven't fooled with it yet.

My question is do I use RM or geofence in mobile app to do this? I see no "arrival" in my RM settings though. I saw a similar thread using Mode Manager to do this but not sure how to proceed as I just want a simple rule to turn a switch on upon us arriving after 8PM -12PM

Here is one way of doing it using a triggered rule. I’m sure there are other ways.

The geofence in the mobil app simply controls a presence device in HE. it cannot turn lights on or off by itself. You have to do that with some other app like simple light, or rule machine. And that would use the phone as the presence sensor.

Thanks guys...I see my error was not using a "triggered rule". I got it working I think!
