Hi.
This feels to be a very basic question so apologies but I would appreciate some help here....
I have a number of Aeotec Multisensor 6's and just can't see how I can arm them for motion sensing.
I want to arm them based on time of day and/or a mode (i.e. NIGHT or AWAY) but can't see where I can do this?
Once I have this, and it must be possible, I would then send a notification to my mobile phone but it's getting them to arm that's my problem.
Is the sensor not detecting motion at all? That's likely a different issue.
"Arming" the motion sensor isn't really a thing. The sensor sends events when any motion is detected. Or any number of other events, depending on the sensor's capabilities. Some drivers have the ability to disable the motion sensor but I don't think that's what you want to do.
Assuming the motion sensor is sending motion events, the hub will receive the motion events all the time. However you can use any number of methods to send notifications based on time of day or mode. The built-in notifications app is the simplest way to do it but there are lots of others. You could also use Hubitat Safety Monitor, and in that case HSM can actually be "armed."
Example of the notifications app, in my case sending notifications to an Echo device.
@brad5 I do have a notifier set up like this already and looking at the event log I can see it is logging motion events as we would expect BUT they aren't showing up on my phone.
Is this something to do with the mobile phone app (Android) not working with 2 independent hubs? I can only see my second hub in a Chrome tab and can't seem to get the same lower tool bar (Dashboard, Geofence, lights, tools, settings) even when I flip to the second hub within the app.
Am I missing a permission of something to receive the notification to my phone? It works fine with my first hub.
OK. Just kind of weird it works fine with one hub and not the other. I have mirrored the apps from the working hub so used it as a functioning template so would have expected it to work.
I have both a "basic rule" instance AND a "notification" instance but the message on the working hub seems to only come from the basic rule instance - what is the notification app actually doing or for?
I will take a look at Pushover though but would have hoped to have both hubs working independently and my hunch says its something about the Hubitat Android app is not quite right....
Pushover is handy for many reasons but I'm sure there's a way to do it with the android app as well. Pushover does have to be set up separately on each hub.
I just took a look at my mobile app setup. It's iOS so not quite the same. I seem to remember having to set up the corresponding device on each hub. But I haven't played with it in a long time... hopefully someone else will chime in with some advice. But you might want to either change the title of this thread or start a new one with a new title.
