Are these symtoms my hub is dying?

My hubitat is a 2023 C8
Last couple of days things have gone wonky
Supposed to turn off and on fountain evey 8 hours, Not happening
Suppossed to turn off heater plug after 15 minutes of being on. Not happening
Alexa turns things on and off, but every times Says "X not resonponding"
Unable to remove a couple of basic rules
Unable to remove a device that is no longer working (unable to use zwave removal because of unresponsive.)
Tried to setup a basic rule to use a smart button to turn on and off 3 devices, not working.

Steps I have tried
Restart hub in the app maybe 3 or 4 times
Shut down Hub in the app and unplugged for 5 minutes
Zwave repair did not finish, just spins
Tried removing a couple of devices in the Hubitat Alexa app and then reauthorizing, when I did that Alexa does not find them.
Unlinked Hubitat and Alexa in the Alexa App. When I relinked, I had to reauthorize all the devices and then have Alexa do discovery, she did not "find" a single one, so now, I have nothing working with Alexa.

I am pulling my hair out. Plus I did not realize just HOW MUCH we depend on Alexa and Hubitat in our daily lives.

Please be kind, I am 70 and my husband is 76 (and has no clue about any of this). Should I order a new Hubitat? If so, do I have to start from scratch? if so, just shoot me.
Thanks for any and all help.

I think I would start by going into reboot, tick advanced settings and tick rebuild database on reboot.
This will get rid of any corruption in the db.
Next would be to check the logs to see if there are any errors or anything that looks strange/weird etc.
If things still remain flakey then maybe tag support who may be able to look at your hub logs and see if they can see anything awry.
Just my thoughts for a starting point.

I'm sure more people with greater knowledge than me (most people ) will also chip in.

What version of the hub firmware are you running.

What @bobbles stateed is a good place to start. I always suggest doing the reboot with the option to rebuild the DB as a first step. It is amazing how many strange things that fixes.

I would suggest we pick one issue and start from their trying to troubleshoot. What single problem would you like to start with?

The C8 and C8 Pro can both backup the Zwave and Zigbee radio to the cloud. So perhaps one of the best places to start would be to look at getting a 'Hub Protect subscription" incase you need that.

I do already have Hub Protect.... yeah !!!
Hub version 2.4.2.143
I did choose rebuild data base on reboot when I rebooted yesterday.
Hubs just walked in the room and ask how he turns on the office light.... "with the switch honey".....

:joy: :joy: I get this when things don't seem to be working. We just take it all for granted.

I would also shut down the hub, unplug power to it for 1 minute and power it back up to properly clear the radios.

Did that yesterday for 5 minutes actually, but thanks for the sugggestion, keep um coming.

I had some flakiness too.
Turned out to be ZWJS.
Went to ZIP and all is now well.

Sorry, this I do not understand at all.
What is ZWJS and where is ZIP?
Thank you

This is probably you're overall issue. Disconnect all power to that device. Shut down the hub, unplug for 1 minute (more is not needed) power back up, wait 2 mins, refresh device line and try removal again.

You have a C8 so no Z-wave JS (protocol) You are on the older z-wave ZIP gateway.

I would ignore that suggestion, for now at least.

Assuming you did not recently make changes in your hub’s z-wave settings to change from the default (ZIP) to a newer z-wave software gateway (ZWJS).

Given that you don’t know what those two terms are referring to, you probably haven’t changed that setting already.

Therefore, you presumably don’t need to change it back.

So, ignore, IMO.

Just for background information, do you have many devices?
Zwave, zigbee, LAN devices etc.

Is issue ONLY with Zwave devices or are other devices (e.g. Zigbee) impacted also?

Nothing's changed physically?
Like, the hub was relocated, something placed in front of it, etc.

Lets focus on one thing at first and get passed that. @rlithgow1 suggestion above is probably a great place to start. Can you try his procedure and see if you can remove this device. Having a failed or bad device that is still part of the Zwave Radio can cause havoc on your Zwave network.

how do i remove something that no longer works? That is the reason I wanted to remove it. I have two light switches that some time ago quit working as a smart device. I try to exclude and they won't.

I have all zwave devices, about 30 of them. No lan.

Thanks for the help

What is the brand and model of the switches.

Some zwave smart Switches have a built in physical kill switch in them. Generally a small pull tab, or slider directly underneath the switch. You could either pull/flip that to kill power through the switch or go tot he breaker and turn the room off. Then go to the hub itself and shutdown one more time and pull power for a min to let the zwave Radio fully reset. Power the hub back up, and go to the setting page and then the Zwave Details page as shown below.

You should see the failing devices there. Click on Remove in the Action column for it. If there is no option to remove it click on refresh. Then once the refersh is complete there should be a option to click on Remove. Sometimes it takes a few times so if it doesn't work the first time try it a few more times.

will give it a shot
