Aqara integration with Aqara M3 Hub

Hi folks. Some advice required if you could kindly assist please. I've scoured this forum but I'm still confused.

I'm contemplating buying a M3 hub and U200 lock from Aqara but wish to keep most of my control and automation in HE.

I have a C8 Pro hub, so I'm trying to understand if the M3 and C8P will play nicely and communicate as expected.

So in it's basic form, if I have a HE dashboard, will I be able to see if:

-The lock is unlocked/locked

  • The door is open
  • be able to set pin numbers for the lock
  • anything else?

I don't have an M3 hub and U200 lock but I have and M2 hub with two U150 locks. If you connect the U200 lock to the M3 Hub via thread then turn around and connect the M3 hub to HE via matter (same as I do the M2 hub) then they should work perfectly fine together.

My locks show up on my dashboards and all my rules are in HE.

I use the Matter Advanced Driver from Hubitat Package Manager as my driver for Aqara Hub when it comes into HE. They may work with a native driver now I am not sure.

As far as pins and lock codes you will most likely have to do that in the Aqara app with the lock. Unless a native driver supports it I don't have the ability to do so in HE.

Thanks for your guidance here, that's helpful. I've not ventured into Thread or Matter just yet so I'm a bit nervous. That said, I'll need to jump in at some point. I would assume there are other other M3 hub users out there who don't have a smart lock. Can anyone advise in general on the effectiveness and compatibility of the M3 with HE please?

Aqara M3 is the best Aqara hub at the moment, it is the flagman model and it receives the updates first.

There is an (outdated) list of the Zigbee devices that are exposed via Matter protocol to Hubitat - check out the 'Aqara Wiki' link here : [RELEASE] Matter Advanced Bridge (limited device support)

Note, that now the HE inbuilt 'Generic Matter Bridge' driver supports (almost) all of the Aqara bridged devices, so there is no need to use the community driver. Actually, there is a HE inbuilt "Generic Matter Lock" driver, which you can use in Hubitat to lock and unlock the U200 lock, if you pair it to Hubitat as a Matter device, using the QR code generated from the Aqara hub.

If you are unsure about how effectively you will use the expsnsive M3 hub, you can get the newest (and the cheapest) Aqara M100 hub - it is currently listed on the US Amazon for only $22.99. I don't like hubs that use only WiFi for connection to the LAN, but others may find it as an advantage... Aqara Hub M100 is listed on the same first post of the community driver.

Note, that HE "Generic Matter Lock" driver supports only the basic lock/unlock commands. You will have to configure the lock codes from within the Aqara Home app on the Aqara hub.
