Apps Dashboard only shows a JSON error

The App on my phone only shows a JSON object describing an error. I know what the problem is. It's because the Dashboard that was previously selected on the device was deleted in favor of another Dashboard. Unfortunately, there is no way to navigate away from the nonexistent dashboard in order to select a new one. How can I work around this issue?

Things I've tried:

  • navigate to other sections of the app "Geofence" or "Settings" and back to "Dashboard"
  • made a new Dashboard with the same name as the one its looking for
  • restarted the app

None of those courses of action have improved the situation. I just want to clear the currently chosen Dashboard in order to select a new one.

Are you talking about the HE app? If so then click on the bottom dashboard link will bring you back to the dashboard menu.

Yes, I can push that button a million times.

Even after rebooting the device and restarting the App, the "Dashboard" screen only shows the JSON error with no way to navigate to the overall list of available dashboards.

I would attach an image, but this forum won't let me. (You guys should consider changing that policy for the sake of legitimate discussions like this one.)

I can see my Dashboards if I use a web browser, but the app on my device (which is just called "Hubitat" afaik) can't get past this error screen. I can see in the log files that the error is caused because it is trying to access a Dashboard called "App 1" which was deleted. Even after I've recreated a new Dashboard called "App 1" it won't get past this screen. (I guess that makes sense if it's trying to access the dashboard by an internal ID which no longer exists).

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Navigate to a particular dashboard in the app and leave it there.
  2. Use a web browser to delete that dashboard.
  3. Now go back to the app and try to navigate your dashboards.

I have a screenshot that I would love to share. but I cannot post images and I cannot link to it even if I host it elsewhere. What do you suggest we do for sharing screenshots?

Have you tried removing and redownloading the app to see if it works around this problem? (Yes, I know it shouldn't happen--just a suggestion here.)

Also, you'll eventually be able to post images and links. The default forum software settings restrict some things for new users. I forget exactly what it takes...

Yes, that has resolved the issue. Uninstalling the app and then reinstalling it has restored my view of all Dashboards. Thanks.
