App Rule to control GE Fan Switch 55258 not turning On

I set up a simple rule to turn on my fan switch at a specific time and to turn off at a specific time. The fan does turn OFF using the rule, but will not turn the fan ON. I can turn it on using the Dashboard, by selecting the fan tile and then choosing "Low" . If I choose "on", it won't turn either. How do I setup the rule to automate turning it on with "Low"?

If you are using Basic Rules, it doesn’t look like Fan speed is an available option. You can however import this rule in Rule Machine which allows for much more customization.

Once the rule has been imported, it will be possible to add the fan speed:

This feature allows a Basic Rule (Version 1.0) or Simple Automation Rule (Version 1.2) to become an equivalent Rule 5.1 rule. Well hold on now. This begs the question...why does the "on" command not work for the fan. That seems to be the root of the problem.

• When you go to the device page and click "on", does that work? Whether it works or not, does the event page show anything? What about the logs?
• Which driver ("Type" from the device page) are you using?
