App request: one touch connect to hub on first opening screen

I obviously need to use the mobile app to get to my hub remotely. Id like to be able to open the app and have a quick button to getting into my hubs interface without having to select. "my hub" and then on the lower half hit "connect toy hub"

Just a small button somewhere to go right to it.

What does "remotely" mean? Away from home? If so, you can't use the mobile app for that at all unless you have Remote Admin (or maybe the particular case I describe in the next paragraph). And if you do, you'll see "Remote Admin" instead of "Connect to Hub" when remote.

Alternatively, if you're there -- or otherwise have remote access to your network, e.g., via a VPN -- you don't actually need the mobile app at all. Just use any web browser (better than the app: less "extra" UI in your way) and navigate to your hub's IP address, or use findmyhub.hubitat.com to search for it if you're not sure.

This could be made a tap or two less in the mobile app, but I think that's intentional since it's not the best idea for administration of the hub, and the goal is for regular use to be doable in the rest of the app as more features get added.

When I open the app, it knows if I am outside of my network or inside, just put a button that brings me right to my hub. Instead right now I have to click on my Hub's name, and then click on "Connect to my Hub"

I just want to open the app and from the main screen, go to my hub.

I DO NOT want to finddle around with going to other sites, adding VPN software or anything else. the functionality that I want already exists, I feel as that I assume a lot of other HE users prob open the app and plan to go right to the web interface but have to click arond (and in some cases if I have fonts bigger I also need to scroll down)

the findmyhub, requires you to log in, (an extra step again) .

I just want a simple open the app and 1 click and boom, im in.

I'm more confused by your screenshots: you are not remote but rather local, according to what the app is reporting, a conflict with this claim in your original post:

As I mentioned above, you would see different options in the app in this case.

I did not suggest that you add a VPN. Rather, I was saying that if you were doing this, the possibilities would be different (and perhaps could explain the above if you are, in fact, remote, but this is still unclear).

This is not true. There is no login required. (The fact that it's so easy actually makes it my preferred way to access any of my hubs, though in my case because I often have more than one on my network at a time, some without a reserved DHCP address that would otherwise make them easier to get to.)

In any case, from your screenshot above, it sounds like just one more tap, so I'm guessing the explanation at the end of my original post is still likely to be the case.

Here is a mockup of what I would like to see. Open the app, and this is the main page right. but the "connect to hub button right there!

I dont want to overcomplicate my request, just 1 button, simple. main page.

Understood. This was actually changed a while back, intentionally and for reasons similar to those I mentioned at the end of my original post.

So, in light of this, I would suggest another approach if you are just trying to locally access your hub's admin interface, as the claims I mentioned above that seem to stand in the way of trying other approaches are not actually true:

Best of luck!

your right i dont need to use the app to access the hub, but the app is a nice and generally convencnt way to acess the hub with minimal fiddling as its setup,

and findmyhub, seems to never work for me, or remember the info, right now, i turned off wifi, and typed in the mac address (hoping it would save the cookie to the info) and all it shows it my local IP address, meaning that when I am on 5G, it will not access, . again, not a simple 1 click i noticed. I can setup a shortcut for the full encrypted URL, but then when I Am at home it requires to go out the the net and back , perhaps i am doing something wrong. but again, like I said, the app does all the heavy lifting and calls it a day.

if you can tell me how Findmy hub works on 5G without a VPN, I have not found it working for me.

Edit: I know how to access the hub remotly, but it does not switch between local and remote, always needs to filter though AWS. the App does the auto switch nice and clean.

Anyways, perhaps the Dev's will look into it, its on them if they want to or not.

That's not going to work (and never would have) without a VPN. Even if it did, remotely accessing your hub without VPN wouldn't work without Remote Admin. If you have Remote Admin, you could go here instead: https://remoteaccess.aws.hubitat.com/ (this does require a login).

Are you trying to administer your hub when away? If so, in what ways? Is it something the mobile app, a dashboard, or other solution that might easier for you can't do already? For example, you don't need Remote Admin to turn a device on or off, adjust a thermostat, etc.

YES !!! the app.. all I am asking is a more simple 1 click way to get to that functionality. this is EXACTLY what I am asking for. Either way, I understand all the way, I am just looking for a more 1 click option. anyways, like I said, if the Dev's want to move or replicate the button on the main page, that would be nice.

Again, it has been moved -- intentionally, to this page.

It might be more helpful to answer this part of the question to see if there is any other way to approach this issue:

perhaps we are just beating a dead horse. things were moved, and can be moved back if there is a want for it. I made an request, again, if the devs want to listen, cool. I have made it clear why i want it. we dont need to beat the horse anymore.

You haven't mentioned what you are actually doing that necessitates access to the web interface (perhaps it is a feature that could be added to the mobile app, already exists, or could be accomplished another way). This is what the questions I have been asking have been trying to address. In any case, the request itself is clear, and there does not seem to be any desire to discuss or answer these questions, so I'll close the topic for now.
