App control of devices not responding

I have a new c8 and after rebooting alot, after a while the devices stop responding on the app! Can't control anything, very disappointed!

So, a a few questions:
1- Why are you

? and How are you doing it.

2- Did you happen to notice the prompt when you were starting a new get help request that directs you to add a bit more information so others can help?

Start with a Rebuild database on reboot.

That is why I was asking how they were rebooting and why they were rebooting in the first place. Some have thought the only way to reboot was plug pull and were not even aware how to get to the settings -> reboot -> advanced options.

Also need to know what their definition of "app control" not working is..... Did they try browser, are they on Android, Iphone.... A lot of information needed and did not want to start suggesting steps without a reason.

Welcome! I know you come here as a new user disgruntled with the hub, but this is a bunch of pretty friendly people who would like to help you get this sorted out.

Please don't take any requests for more info the wrong way, if you just provide us some detailed info, we will have something to work with to get you back up and running.

I assume by "the app" you mean the main Hubitat UI, and when you open a device it does not respond to commands there... it is hard to guess though. A real basic run through of what you have done to the new hub since you got it is a good place to start, if you can post that.

Yep, I did not mean that in any negative way.... hope it was not taken that way

Nope, I was not referring to anything specific, I was just thinking that @vickiepatterson might be feeling bombarded with the info requests right off the bat. Granted, they are all good questions, and hopefully they really want our help and respond.

LOL - and when I read that, I assumed they were referring to the Hubitat Mobile App on their smartphone/tablet.

Hopefully @vickiepatterson will respond with some additional details so the Hubitat Community can work its magic with a solution. :crossed_fingers:

Yeah, but that would still be devices in the UI in the app, but that is a good point... is it just the app, or have they tried the web UI interface? So many questions, so few answers...

All I'm asking is why my light switches, z wave, quit responding using the app! I've done the rebuild, reboot plenty of times, that's the only way I can get things working again, but after a while, Like sleep get up, and the light not responding on app!! I'm coming from Vera, because I don't like paying a monthly fee for remote using! Now when I turn the light on with the switches, I see on the app it's on, but I can't turn it off or back on! Also using app on Galaxy S24 Ultra!

I came from Vera as well, two years ago. Hubitat is different than Vera but once you get over the initial learning curve you'll find it far more powerful. Hubitat is also very well supported whereas Vera hadn't had a software update in several years.

How many light switches did you bring over from Vera? All ZWave? Did they work well once you initially paired them on Hubitat but problems came up later? or did they have issues at the time of pairing to Hubitat? Have you shut off the old Vera? If you log into Hubitat from a web browser on the same LAN can you control the devices from there?

Just trying to understand if it ever worked well or if it worked well and then problems came up.

Vera is off, everything worked great after exclusion, love the exclusion, then pairing worked great! It's only after while I get no response trying to control the lights! I've done lan and wifi same response! Just can't figure why it keeps loosing control! Also I have zwave Schlage keypad locks that I can't get it to pair, even after exclusion! Still working on that! Just hate having to reboot just to get back control!

Also same response when local and remote!

Does it work differently if you use a browser and go to the hubitat's address?

Can you post a screenshot of your entireZwave table in Settings-> Z-Wave Details

Also, consider adding the additional information as suggested in the link I provided earlier

As @tray_e asked , please post your z-wave details page in its entirety. Settings>>z-wave details

Schlage requires S2 security to pair. Maybe that helps. I have paired Schlage locks to hubitat.

As for devices working then not working that is odd. Post your zwave table as othrs have suggested. That might give clues. Also can you expland on no response trying to control. Do you mean from the iPhone app, android app, or a browser logged into Hubitat on your LAN. Is this within the home or remote to the home?

I'll have to get back down to my lake house this weekend, that's where the hub is! I'll get back to work on things then! What i mean about responding, I can't turn anything on or off after a while! Reboot things work great, after a while, go back to app can't control any light on or off! I'm beginning to think something is wrong with the hub! Just saying! I'll know more this weekend! Thx

It sounds like your Zwave mesh is having issues. Usually this comes from a device, not the hub itself. Did you add any additional devices to Hubitat, or just the ones that were on Vera? It sounds like you have a device not playing well with your mesh. It does take some troubleshooting to figure out what it is, once you are back at the cabin.

There are Zwave logs but they don't save anywhere, so you basically need to open the Zwave log page and leave it up to find devices spamming the mesh, or something not repeating and breaking routes.

Ok thanks for the advice, just learning my way around, I love learning!! Thx

Or start with looking at the settings page and making sure there are no ghosts.
