App and geofence

So I migrated from the C-8 to the C-8 pro got the IP address changed from the old hub to the new one finally got Alexa to work again but none of the geofence’s are working I deleted the hubitat app and reinstalled it still doesn’t work,OwnTracks isn’t working now and Locative say’s no response from hub. I’m at a loss on how to get them to work now. any help would be appreciated

For locative, is MakerAPI installed and working on the new hub, you will need to change the address that locative reaches out for entering and exciting a geofence area to the new MakerAPI access token as this will have changed during migration unless I'm mistaking. I would just go through all the setup steps in this thread ...

I have no idea about how OwnTracks works, so can't help you there.

The maker ip is there but I didn’t change anything it’s been so long since I installed it I can’t even remember how to set it lol

Own tracks can be a Pain to set up I have it but that’s not working either

Is there any support on here I’ve already posted about this I went from the c-8 to the c-8 pro and the hubitat geofence stopped working no matter what I try it doesn’t work

It might be helpful to state what you did try, but here's one idea:

To be extra certain that the mobile app is associated with your current hub, I would log out of the mobile app, then log back into it. When prompted (if prompted), select your new hug, and again if prompted, select your existing mobile app device.

If you’ve already done something like this, is it possible you created a new mobile app device instead of reusing the existing one? You would need to reuse it in order to not have to redo all of your automations, but you can also just swap them out with each other or do the above to reassociate if you’ve already done that.

@asigner40 please don’t create multiple forum threads about the same issue.

It’s unlikely to get your question answered more quickly; in fact it’s more likely that information will become fragmented across threads, which will make it harder to resolve your issue.

I suggest we work through these one at a time. Starting with the Hubitat mobile app, since that should require the least effort to get working on your new hub.

Please describe in more detail what you’ve tried with respect to the new mobile app.

When you login to the app, it should prompt you to select a hub and select a previously created mobile device.

Sharing screenshots can be helpful if you’re stuck and not sure what to do next.

I migrated over and from the c-8 to the pro when I did that the ip of the pro was different so I went into my router and changed the ip of the old hub to something else and changed the ip on the new pro to the ip of the old hub if that makes sense. I’ve deleted and reinstalled the app multiple times now the only thing I did just notice is the iPhones
Devices DNI number is different from the one on the old hub I don’t know if that matters

Is this what happened or no?

Right now when I open the app it goes right to the new hub but I can go in and change to the old one

Ok and it sounds like you aren’t seeing a pop-up that gives you the option to select a previous mobile phone device when logging into the app?

Nope if I was to delete the app and reinstall and sign back in it does its thing and just adds the phone. I’m wondering though if changing the ip from the old hub to the new one in my router caused a problem cause I have setup as static ip address. like I said the only thing I see different is the DNI numbers are different the old hub has a different number than the new one when I check the devices

Can you explain why you feel the geofence isn't working.

  1. When you click on the home icon in the phone app, does it correctly show you inside or outside the geofence? That should work independently of any settings on the hub.

  2. Does the "phone" device on the hub's device table, fail to update correctly

  3. Are you suspecting geofence isn't working only because location based automations (or mode changes) are not occurring as you expect.

Connect to my.hubitat.com with a web browser, and select "registered hubs". Do you still see both hubs registered? Do each of the hub's show the correct IP address? Does the old hub still show it's original address assigned?

I gave you everything you need to get Locative up and running again, what do you want more, I can't physically go and do it for you, sorry. Click the link I gave you and recheck every step of the setup, but like I said, it's most likely only the token that has changed and needs to be updated in the locative links.

I just have to read the instructions i haven’t done it yet

All location based automations stopped working it doesn’t show that I’m present or not present. If I go into devices and manually to command it it works. I had both hubs hooked up. The new hub had a different IP address so when i transferred to the New hub, I went into the router and changed the new hubs IP address to the old hubs ip cause I had it set up as a static IP i will post a pic of what is shows cause it’s showing stuff I’ve never seen before

So although you only answered one of my several questions, your logs seem to indicate geofence is working. At least the hub is aware of your coming and going.

It looks like your problem is that the changes in your location are not executing the assigned automations.

Witch other questions didn’t I answer I’m not quit sure how else to explain it
Yes it seem the logs are showing my Coming’s and goings but that’s it but not executing the automations
I’ve tried to redo the automations, but that still did not work, so how do I fix this problem?

That would be best answered by re-reading the post. However the screen capture of the logs infers what the answer to those questions would have been.

I would start by

  • opening the settings screen
  • select reboot
  • select "show advanced options"
  • select "rebuild database"
  • click on yes, and wait for reboot to complete
  • test if automations are working

By the way, do any of your automations work. For example turn on the lights at sunset, or activate a light when motion is detected?
