Anybody come up with a way to use Amazon Echo or Google Home to set Mode in Hubitat?
I use routines in Alexa to turn on virtual switches which are then used in mode manager to set mode. I do use code phrases so the wrong people can't turn things off.
I don't set mode by voice, but thinking outside the box, you could set up a virtual momentary switch with your mode name and link it to a rule that will set the mode when you ask her to turn it on. Just a thought.
Sounds like it should work for me. Where can I find more info on virtual switches? Thanks for your reply.
I also use virtual switches to change modes via Alexa.
On your hubs devices page, you'll see at the top a button "Add Virtual Device". Click the button, give your device a name, and use driver "Virtual Switch". Remember to add it to the Amazon Echo Skill so that Alexa will discover it. It works just like a regular switch for dashboards, rules, etc., only there's nothing physical.
Note that you can have all kinds of virtual devices. Have fun!
He beat me to it. That's the way it's done.
Many thanks!
It works - thanks again!
Make sure you set it to auto back off (in the driver) that way it will always be ready to be turned on.
Or not, depending on the use case. I use a switch called "Switch - Day". When it's on it's daytime and mode = Home. When it's off it's nighttime and mode = Asleep.
