I tried the fingerbot but it couldn't reach my hub. It's because there are several walls in the way. I could get a zigbee repeater but have to plug it to power point. Would prefer cleaner approach.
My zwave mesh is quite good and reliable. So prefer something that feeds from the mesh.
If you are comfortable with soldering you can solder a pair of wires to the button and โpressโ it with a dry contact relay. I have done this on several things in my house and many do it with garage door buttons and remotes for local control.
Here's what I have:
A remote for the gate is on the window sill.
Wires go from the remote to a ZEN16 relay.
Could be powered by battery, I suppose, but not compact at all.
There are many zwave dry contact relays from Zooz (Zen16 and Zen17), Qubino, etc. Thee are many Zigbee and Wifi ones too. I have a Zen16 (zwave), Zen17 (zwave), and Shelly Uni Plus (wifi) in production integrated with HE and have also used the MHCozy zigbee relays as well. You need to search for "dry contact relay" as it basically connects the two wires you solder to the button which is the same as if you were to physically press it.
