Is anybody aware of a modern "smart" wall switch that can support 1800W incandescent loads?
My house has two sets of exterior floodlights that use halogen bulbs. I'd like to be able to control these floodlights from Hubitat. Z-Wave Plus, Zigbee or even WiFi would be fine as long as I can control it locally with Hubitat.
I have one set of floodlights on an Intermatic HA18. This is a Z-Wave (not plus) switch of an older design. It works fine, but it's a bit slow. I've been trying to find another HA18 for the other set of floods but I'm not finding any on ebay. There is an even older Intermatic switch, the CA3000, that is also rated for 1800W incandescent loads, but again, not Z-Wave Plus.
I also found an Insteon switch that has an adequate load rating, but integrating Insteon devices with Hubitat doesn't look as straightforward as I'd like. (Correct me if I'm wrong...)
Replacing the floods with LEDs would be nice, but I'm not finding units that are affordable with similar light output (bulbs or fixtures). Also, they are rarely used, so electrical consumption when in use isn't a big issue. I just want to be able to control them from Hubitat.
You also need a node.js application running on a Raspberry Pi or spare computer. I don't really consider that a big deal because there are so many other node applications you can run along with it that are super helpful.
These are very fast and very reliable devices thanks to the dual mesh. Excellent hardware features as well. There's a new driver just about ready for release that I'll post a write up in the next couple of days. It uses web sockets to provide instant updates and control. All 100% local, once the devices are paired to the Insteon hub.
You can try Sinope smart light switch 1800W Zigbee. Available on their website www.sinopetech.com. I have a few of them. They work great with the generic zigbee switch driver. But according to the 4th episode of Hubitat Live, specific driver will be available in a future release.
Thanks for sharing. Although I'm a big Insteon fan, it's nice to see another Canadian company in the space, and another Zigbee option too! Would be nice to see in-wall outlets from Sinope as well. This is a highly underserved area for Zigbee.
