Are there negative effects of turning on Matter in HE? My Zigbee and Z-Wave mesh are solid, but considering adding a Matter device. What, if any, effect will this have on HE, Zigbee, Z-Wave, or Wifi, other?
Device I want to add, 5 SwitchBot Tilt motors.
I saw no difference when I turned it on a while back.
Worst case, you can turn it back off.
Reduces the free memory available…
Not an issue with C-8 Pro hubs.
I have a C8 Pro and have matter enabled. I have an Aqara M2 Hub with 28 child devices, a SwitchBot Hub 2 with 3 child devices, and a Minoston Outdoor Matter plug all connected via matter and have zero issues with my zigbee mesh. My Z-Wave mesh is small but no issues there either. The available memory is still 1.3million so stated it is not issues with a C8 Pro. I can't speak for other hubs.
I enabled it on my C7 but the memory dropped lower than I liked. I don't recall how much it actually dropped but I disabled it. I am looking at purchasing a C8 Pro and when I do I will re-enable it
Thx. I bought the C8 soon after its release. I have about 70 zigbee and zwave devices. I'm hearing the 2GB C8Pro does well, how about my now poor c8, with 1 GB?
I have a C7 with Matter enable: Slight memory decrease but no adverse effect. You should be fine.
Anti-matter drive goes nutz.
Just FYI update:
I did get the SwitchBot Hub 2 installed with 5 tilt blinds combined in two separate groups. I used Apple Home to commission the hub and then was able to get these via Matter into HE (C8). I was then also able to add the tilt blinds into Alexa through HE for voice control. This all seems to be working well thanks to the "Matter Advanced Bridge" designed by one of you really smart people.
I am also pleased to report no appreciable effect on HE performance.
Thank you all.
