Android App no longer reporting presence properly

I've used the geofence feature on my iphone and my wife's android for some time now. It never worked quite right on my iphone, so I had to use the life360 integration to get that part working correctly. Recently, I noticed that I'm not getting the notifications I'd programmed in when we both leave the house for the system to enter AWAY mode. I checked my mobile dashboard I'd created, and it showed my phone being absent, but my wife's phone still in the house.

I checked her phone, and it was correctly showing that she was outside the geofence area I'd set up, so I tried having it send a geofence event to see if anything happened. Nothing.

Has anyone else had this issue, where the app suddenly stops reporting location properly?

TIA!

I am a recent HE user and am still setting up the functionality in my home. I have had the Hub for a couple of months and the App installed on my phone but never tried to use the Geofencing functionality until this morning. I set up a simple rule to test it to begin with. Just something that would send me a message when I enter and leave.... nothing came through.

I tried multiple things but in the end did a simple uninstall and reinstall of the app.

Now when I look in the device page on my laptop while I have the App open on my phone I can move the location of my Hub in and out of my real location to pretend I am moving... the Present status changes quite reliably, whereas before I didnt change at all.

Thanks! Is your phone an Android?

Yes, a Samsung Galaxy fold.

I really dislike advice like, 'restart it' or 'uninstall and reinstall it' - but it seemed like such a simple/effective resolution.

My wife has an iphone, last night we installed the app on her phone too. When doing the same test (moving the hub location on the map) the presence status in the device changes very reliably.

I've seen lots of people posting to say how flaky this functionality is and having to use alternatives, I hope it works reliably now as doing some of those work arounds would be frustrating and add complexity to something that should work in itself.

Good luck with getting it fixed/working

Presence had stopped working with my Android phone, apparently around the first of March.

I just did the download/re-install trick and and the "presence" feature appears to work just fine.

So, some more thanks for the hint.

The mystery is solved. Earlier, I'd modified my wife's account to remove admin privilege, and somehow that disconnected her account from the hub, but did not delete it. Apparently, the app uses the account info along with its device ID to report presence/absence. Once I re-added her account, it started working again.
