I'd love to be able to have an extra column in the device list besides Room to use as we wish. I'd use it to categorise things by their primary function, because at the moment I am putting that as part of their label in order just to sort them. This makes it harder to read on dashboards etc. In conjunction with this, I'd like if the system could remember our current device sort order and open it like that each time.

Agreed. I just had to make a room for "automation controls" and "virtual switches"
Something along these lines would be quite useful. There has been similar requests in the past for the ability to record additional data against devices, such as battery change dates / times, etc.
Need another one for cell phones
User defined tags and the ability to add any number of them to devices would be awesome.

It would also provide options for system-related info to be easily expanded, if for example, the tags were a two-part name:
- user - batteryChangeDate = 2021-11-07
- system - isHubMeshDevice = yes
- system - hubMeshHost - "C-7 Home"
What I am also sneaking in here is a request for the indicator a device is from another hub to be stored outside of the device name
