Problem and I can't determine whether my Echo is losing devices or the Hubitat skill is losing devices, this has become a daily event over the last vseveral days

It seems you may not be alone. Some people are having issues when they upgrade to Alexa+ others are just plain having random issues without upgrading. My guess is Amazon is making a lot of changes and tweaks.
Have you tried going into the Amazon Echo Skill app in HA, clicking on the devices, then update and done? In the past this has fixed odd issues for me.

Its getting worse, I now have no virtual contacts or anything that's virtual being responded to by my echo's
Alexa+ is a sh!t show in my opinion. I enabled it as part of the early access promo. It broke an existing Logitech Harmony skill that I use daily. Every time I asked Alexa to "Turn on the TV" it would respond saying that my Fire TV doesn't support that. I even set my Fire TV Stick to not be controlled by any Echo devices in the Alexa app. No joy, until I removed Alexa + completely.
Alexa+ also completely changed the display on my Echo Show 5, which I use with a large clock displayed. Alexa+ put the clock in a smaller font on the lower left corner of the screen. I was unable to find a way to revert that back, Again, removing Alexa+ fixed that issue.

Has Alexa+ even been released in the UK, yet? I don't think it has been available outside of the USA at this time. 
Here in the USA, I believe Alexa+ is still in 'early access' form. Users have to request the change to the new Alexa+. Nobody has been forced into it, that I am aware of. I am using it and have not had any issues whatsoever with the Hubitat Skill for Alexa. Alexa+ does respond a little slower than the old Alexa, which is annoying. Like @jkudave, I am not a fan of the changes made to the Echo Show 5 which I use on my nightstand. Not sure what Amazon is thinking with those changes.

None of the available virtual switches work any more, for the last 2 weeks I've had no end of trouble with different types of devices that are available to my Echo being able to control the devices, the virtual switches were working this morning but TPlink devices were not but are now and the virtual don't work won't
Say “Alexa disable Alexa+”.
That’s what worked for me.
3 Kasa plugs not working today that are linked via Amazon Echo Skill, but will work using the Kasa skill on the echo, my Ikea plugs not working either
And today nothing whatsoever is being carried over to my echo via the Amazon echo skill, its showing in the skill on the Hubitat and on the echo app but nothing can be controlled by my echo
Solved, the Amazon Hubitat skill had become corrupt and took ages to remove completely when I finally got rid and re-enabled it everything was restored to full working order
