Does Hubitat send some device number or an actual name to Alexa?
I have one device out of 100+ devices...a Singled bulb... that no matter what I call it Alexa says it has no app or device by that name. I have several of these bulbs still in my system and none of the others have this problem.
I created a fake device and replaced it in all apps...it controlled it...but when I swapped it back to the real bulb again Alexa can't find it again.
Yup, added and deleted it to the Alexa app multiple times since it started failing....changed names. Just makes no sense to me at all. I'll swap it with a virtual...delete it and add it back. Who knows.
I've had as many as 12 of these up and running at one time. Never had this issue with anything else...and it used to work. It was called P1 for porch one in my system, but Alexa had trouble understand that name (even though P2 and P3 worked fine). At some point after trying to rename it to something Alexa understood it started failing no matter what. You never know until you know in troubleshooting ...but I don't think it's the driver. I think it's Alexa has something stuck. Why I wanted to know if the device number or just the name went to Amazon.
It is linked by the device UID (number in URL of device page), and when you first share it the name is sent to Alexa.
If you later rename in HE or Alexa it does not sync between the two.
(Apparently name changes in HE do push to Alexa, possibly only if you have not manually renamed it in Alexa at all).
I have lots of devices I have renamed in Alexa or HE after sharing and they keep working fine.
Ya...something somewhere has corrupted something. The good news is that I'm replacing these with the LIFX bulbs. I saw a post on how someone thought they were far brighter and generated better color...and I agree. I never changed it in the Alexa app...I don't use it.
I renamed the old bulb again and added a LIFX bulb named P1, and it works just fine with Alexa. Clearly it wasn't just a problem Alexa had with recognizing the word P1.
