I live in a broad area where fire is very much a "thing", so the seriousness of fire is not lost on me... But....
Am I not the only one who has some affinity with the early season smell of smoke having some kind of sweet smell... It feels terrible (wrong) to me, particularly given the impact fire has on so many people nowadays.... but ... anyone else?
Eventually it does mean drier eyes, etc,... but again, not the biggest downside in a local emergency...

Are you smoking something right now?

Hehe,, I wish... As approachable your instructionable video is....
Unlike many of my posts... It is a genuine one... The smell of fires in the distance somehow reminds me of my youth in a good way that both interests me and worries me in equal measure...

Ahh - nostalgia vs paranoia. Where I live paranoia would win that battle; the smell of smoke usually meaning some little scrote is torching your car outside

Like many things in life, fire is both a blessing and a curse.
Man's discovery of fire enabled us to cook our meals, warm our dwellings, and forge metals to make tools. It would be hard to live without it.
Uncontrolled, fire can be devastating.
However, the same thing can be said of earth, wind, and water. When controlled, it can be hugely beneficial. Uncontrolled landslides, straight line winds, tornadoes and hurricanes, and floods are devastating.
I love the aroma of a hardwood fire contained in a fireplace or perhaps as a bonfire in a cleared field. When you can smell the smoke from a forest fire a hundred miles away, that is not good.

I'll admit I tend to feel the same when smelling the early Summer back-burning efforts driving home from work... I feel less guilty to smell the good work of those looking to protect us from the ravages of the more severe fires that can occur. With that in mind, it was an odd sensation to smell the same late at night in early Autumn....
Chanting an incantation referencing white rabbits may also work...
