I'm trying to Z-Wave replace a switch that stopped working. I grabbed one out of my bin of spare parts but it didn't act normally, so I assumed that's why it was in the bin. So, I bought a new Zooz Zen72 dimmer 800. Trying to install it and I can't get the thing to go into pairing mode, i.e. tap 3 times on the top of the paddle in quick succession. I've tried all the different tempos of tapping imaginable. I've tried 4 and 5 times, and more. I've tried tapping the bottom paddle three times first as well.
I can't get the LED light to light up in any way. I'm sure I have power, I'm sure I have the power in the line hole. I'm sure the power is connected to the terminal well. I'm sure the ground is grounded and connected to the terminal well. The line voltage is 120-121 volts.
Another weird thing is, the switch also doesn't turn on at all, but I don't know if this is normal or not prior to inclusion. Also, with the one I pulled out of my parts bin I couldn't get it into pairing mode.
If it matters, the one that failed was still online and would respond to commands, but the switch never turned on, even if it thought it was turning on, whether with the paddle or the from the hubitat.
I feel like this particular gang box is cursed, but there's another Z-Wave switch right next to on the same circuit working perfectly fine.
Is the air-gap pushed all the way in?
Both of these symptoms to me say you don't have the switch wired right, for whatever reason.
You mention power, but I don't see neutral. You do have the black wire on the HOT and the white wire on NEUTRAL?

Yep, I'm an idiot. No neutral wire at all. Not sure how the last one was working at all. Thanks!

FWIW, the last switch was an older GE ZW3006 which apparently didn't use a neutral wire. All fixed now, thanks neonturbo and hubitat community!
