Alexa won't discover devices on C8

Hi, I recently bought the Hubitat C8 after dumping my Z-Wave Homeseer Hometroller that I had for years. I’ve had no trouble setting up the C8 to include various light switches and smart plugs along with different timing events. My hub is registered, and the devices work fine.

However, getting it to work with Alexa has been frustrating. I’ve installed the Hubitat Elevation app on my phone, and that seems to be working perfectly. I installed the Hubitat skill on my Alexa app, and it successfully linked to the hub. I’ve authorized the devices to be controlled by Alexa, singly and together. However, Alexa never discovers the devices.

The hub is connected by Ethernet to my router. The Echos are all connected by WiFi on the same network. I’ve tried disabling and re-enabling the skill. I’ve removed the app and re-installed it. I removed the Homeseer app and the Homeseer skill, just in case there’s a conflict. There is nothing fancy about the light switches, mostly simple GE/JASCO Z-Wave Plus switches. I even tried manually adding devices to the Alexa app, but that goes nowhere because it wants a brand and a hub, and the Hubitat hub is not an option.

Does anyone know what I’m doing wrong or have any suggestions? Thanks.

On the Alexa device, did you hit the button to discover devices?

When you say the button on the Alexa device, do you mean the Z-Wave smart switch, the Alexa app, or an Amazon Echo? I don’t understand the last one. Alexa sees the hub, just not the devices controlled by the hub.

It is probably implied from this, but you didn’t explicitly say you installed the Amazon Echo skill in Hubitat. You did that, right?

Re the question about a button, the easiest way to get Alexa to discover devices is to just tell her to do it.

Did you allow the device in Hubitat to be shared with Alexa.? Integrations tab. Amazon Echo Skill. Then select the devices that you would like Alexia to see.

I finally got it! I was unaware of the use of the Integrations tab. I went into the Integrations tab, clicked on the Amazon Echo Skill, set all of the switch devices and dimmer devices settings to the right, hit “Done”, and without asking, Alexa discovered all of the devices immediately. They all seem to respond perfectly. Thanks so much for the help!
