In the l last few weeks, my Alexa integration has decided to treat devices which are clearly configured as switches in Hubitat and Alexa as lights. This has led to the annoyance in my Alexa groups of asking for lights off/on and having fans or other devices follow that command. I have not had this issue until recently. Prior, only devices profiled as lights followed a command for lights on/off. I have tried a multitude of things to fix this, but alas it goes on. I am wondering if anyone has encountered the same recently?
In the Alexa app does it actually have the devices grouped with the lights as a light, or is it just the "Lights on" voice command that is activating all the switches?
I have had some devices specifically configured as switches or fans (or even a TV) and then the "Turn on the lights" command will turn on EVERYTHING in that room. Despite that fact that the app prompts you to set things as lights so they work with the lights voice commands in reality I found it ignores that anyway.
I pretty much gave up on Alexa working in any sort of predictable and consistent way a while ago...
Hi @jtp10181 The devices including the Echo are part of a room group, but some devices appear as lights and some as switches. I do that so I can simply reefer "overhead light" or "fan" per room without having to say some long name of the device. So to answer your question, it does not show it grouped as a light, but the lights on command turns all devices in that Alexa room on and off. New problem from what has worked fine for years... Im starting to agree without it's not consistent.
