Hey everyone. I'm super new to Hubitat. Used z-wave protocol via Vera for years and then swapped out for Smartthings (horrific mistake). Just got my Hubitat setup and finally have it (almost) all working as intended! Really excited to have a new toy to play with!!!!
One thing I'm having trouble with is the Aeotec smart switch 6 . . . . specifically the built in driver. What I've noticed . . . No issues pairing and I can label it a dimmer or switch and it works flawlessly. However, if I label it the specific driver (aeotec smart switch 6), it is either extremely delayed and/or completely unresponsive. I can change the LED colors, make it a full time nightlight, see voltage, etc, but the device won't turn on/off. I searched the forums and didn't see any mention. So, I'm either the first person to have this issue or I am doing something wrong (my guess is the latter).
Nope .. Not the latter. I experience it too. I moved that plug to my potpourri pot. Seems a useless way to use a 50$ plug, but I experienced the same issues. I'm currently using the Aeotec Smart Switch 6 driver, and it usually doesn't update when I go to the device and look at it. So .. it's been assigned a simple on and off task to turn on my smell good when we're home. (shrug). It's been solid when turning off and on with rule machine. I don't like to consciously turn on or off things once they're set up. That's what automation is for. But, did I mention that it's seems a bad way for such an expensive plug? - I have to admit, I didn't push or ask for anyone to look at it. Purely because my give a ■■■■ has been missing in action when it comes to finding someone that doesn't have their own agenda to fix my drivers. (shrug)
Weird. I only have one Smart Switch 6, but I have been using it in an automation to turn on a space heater all winter with no obvious issues.
Maybe I'm having a similar issue and just haven't noticed, though. lol. Really in this particular service, as long as it turns on/off I'm OK - fast vs slow doesn't matter. And if the status didn't update I'm not sure I would notice.
Edit: I just tested it some this morning. The status was correct as-found. I turned it on/off a few times and the status updated in HE within a second or two. Dunno?
Are you using the aeotec 6 driver or did you label it as a simple switch? I have 4 total, and they all work if used as a dimmer or switch.... But like @april.brandt mentioned above, that's a serious waste of an otherwise expensive piece of hardware.
type is aeotec smart switch 6. And since there's no huge call for it anywhere else right now, I will probably leave it where it is. Maybe something different for it this summer when I can get things figured out.
Well, both I guess. A few times, it worked (changed status and turned device on/off). 99% it didn't work at all (status did NOT change and device did NOT change). It might have still been delayed, but my patience ran out after maybe 2 minutes.
Yeah, I agree. Not a huge deal... As the devices work fine with it set as generic Z-wave switch/dimmer. Also, I bought these a while ago, so nothing really lost.
I have this too. I have a few of these and all of them work, except 1. It doesnt update the HE with the status (on/off, power, voltage etc). I seem to have gotten around it by refreshing every 5 minutes. I'm not sure why I cant poll the device with the zwave poller, but it doesnt come up as an option.
I had this too. I removed and readded it and the delay went away, but the device page never updates to the correct status unless i press refresh. But, as before, a simple on and off command is all I'm using it for at the moment.
