I've been using the Aeotec home energy monitor gen5 for a while now but all of a sudden it's become problematic. No idea why, possibly a firmware update.
What driver is recommended for this device?
I've been using the one written by Taylor Vierrether.
For some reason this driver doesn't seem to like hub mesh.

Seems the problem was hub security, disabling that has resolved the problem.

More likely, the problem was incorrect Hub Mesh setup. If you want to use Hub Login security with Hub Mesh, you'll have to generate a token on any secured hubs as described here:
Of course, disabling it also works around that issue. 
Yep I've had hub mesh happily humming along ever since it was first introduced and I've even tried generating new tokens but for some reason this one device just didn't like it when security was enabled. All other devices fine just this one which has been working happily for quite some time before deciding to not. Quite why I have no idea, the only thing I can think of is something in a hub firmware update.
