I bought the Aeotec Doorbell(Siren) 6 and integrating into my automation. I can't see in RM how to individually activate the light. Can someone advise if they've figured this out? (I'm using the Aetotec Siren 6 New Driver Type due to information in other threads and my Hub is at 2.2.4.158)
A side note on the Aeotec Doorbell 6, I'm not going to use the Aeotec button provided. I'm using a generic Z Wave button hardwired to my doorbell switch. I didn't like the automation functions using the Aeotec button because you can't switch the chime based on RM conditions or mute the button from RM. The Aeotec button also does not change states in HE, and there is no direct way to know the button has been pressed to enable other automation functions.
Sorry, I forgot - the only way I could use RM to get doorbell button events was to add a condition for โsound played = Noneโ. I could not find a doorbell pressed event.
With the new doorbell 6 driver you can get button press events. Select capability button in RM, set your siren as the button device, choose whitch button to check and for whitch kind of event.
It will fire every time. It does with mines.
Also, it is possible to play any of the sounds or mute or change any parameters for that matter if you choose custom command as action in RM.
The problem with this is that if I trigger a different sound for other action, like a beep for door opening, that shows as played too. I know you can also see the Name of the chime being played, but I switch the chime type for door bell based on time of the day so it would get very complicated. I was hoping I could use %variables% for each chime, but it only lets me inter a number when I select the chime to be played and won't allow a %variable%.
Can you advise how I would update "Door Bell 1 Tone" with a custom command? I have tried, but I don't see that in the first drop down list. I'm confused about the entries of "Select Custom Command" and "Type".
At one point I was trying Custom Commands and shortly after the Siren stopped responding and became a brick. I couldn't even get it do a hard reset, based on the instruction sheet. I ended up returning it as defective and now have a new unit. So to be completely honest I'm a little afraid of custom commands, but I don't know for sure if that was just a coincidence.
I see how that would get complicated - here is my rule for using the same tone (set as a default in the driver) throughout the day, with pushover notifications:
Sorry, I was referring at the siren device parameters. The command apply to the parent device but not to the individual buttons. Maybe that could be a suggestion to make paired buttons selectable in the next driver.
As a work around you could set the button to mute and have the siren play the sound of your choice with an automation. Pretty much like @dsh1705 suggested but with button1 pushed event as a trigger. (no If needed).
@ymerj The logic looks right to me, if it showed me "button 1 pushed". The problem I had the first time I tried to install the Doorbell 6 was that it wouldn't show me any button response. The doorbell would ring, I would see start and stop playing in the logs, but no "button 1 pushed". "button 1 pushed" wouldn not also trigger any rules and I couldn't see in when monitoring the device. This is why I'm using another 3rd party Z-Wave button to make a rule very similar to what you've written. I was using Type "Aeotec Siren 6 New". This was all in Jan-21, so I don't think it's related to the firmware issues back in 2021.
In my first install the siren unit ended up going completely dead, couldn't even do a hard reset. So I returned that unit defective and got a new unit. I configured the new one without even trying the included button. Since your post I tried to pair up the button and confirm with this setup that I was getting the same result, but unfortunately I can't get this button to pair at all. I'm using the Hubitat Pair button and also tried pulling the unit off the wall and using the action button, neither method would pair the new button. Who knows, but I'm currently happy with my 3rd party z-wave button. I've hardwired my standard doorbell switch to the z-wave 3rd party PCB and I hope that will continue to be very reliable and also allow me to hardwire power the the 3rd party z-wave button to eliminate batteries. Not a fan of batteries needing replaced.
Hoping Hubitat will get the strobe part working, I'd like to utilize those additional notification methods.
Its so great to see that there is a driver for this Siren. I have the Siren 6 and when a patio sliding glass door opens it chimes with sound 29 wich is perfect but I also want the light to flash. Cant for the life of me figure out how to make it chime and have the light flash once so that you get an audible and visual indication that the door was opened. So far I have the Chime (Audible sound working but just cant figure out how to get both the chime and the light to flash ?
