Hello, I have configured two Aeotec Door/Window Sensor 7. Got them working and reporting correctly the status of the contact sensor.
I have opened the device and removed the battery and them put it back together with the cover, but now the same device is not changing its state if I open/close the magnet. Hubitat is reporting the tamper as detected.
Do you know what's happening? Should I reset the tamper status, if yes, how to do it?
You may have mesh issues or may need to exclude, factory reset, include. I had to do the exclude/reset/include on mine. Try moving near Hub to eliminate mesh issues. If that works, add a repeater.
Make sure you don’t have ghost devices (no in/out clusters) from pairing attempts.
Another way, to reset Tamper status, is:
(1) change the driver to built-in “Device”, hit Save Device, hit Configure.
(2) hit deleteAllStates
(3) change the driver back to built-in Aeotec Door/Window Sensor Series 7, save device, hit Configure.
If it doesn’t report open/close, you will have to do the exclude, reset, include. I set the LED to not report so as to save battery life.
Thank you. I have tried the procedure for resetting the tamper status without removing the device from Z-Wave, but it didn't work.
I had to do a exclude/reset/include. I have removed again the case, Hubitat reported the tamper status correctly and after closing the case it has cleared the tamper status. I'm not sure if the problem before was because I had removed the battery.
I just replaced the battery this past weekend in mine, and I didn’t have the tamper status issue you reported. May just have been your bad luck. I wish that Z-Wave devices weren’t so finicky. It all should “just work”.
