OK, I believe I have searched for all the specific help I can think of on the community here or the documents and am lost. I am sure the information I seek is out there but I must be missing it. Can someone point to instructions on how to use Device Firmware Updater to update my Aeotec devices that need it. I have 5 Door/Window Sensors 7, 3 Multisensor 6, 2 Smart Switches, and 1 Siren 6.

  1. what file types are needed? .hex?
  2. where do I find them? tried the Aeotec site and got their installers for z-stick and saw the HomeSeer ones (.hcl I think) is there some way to extract the .hex file from these files?
    3.how long does the Device Firmware Updater take on average assuming good connectivity?
  3. Is there a better way/tool which doesn't require excluding and re-pairing the device after update?

If you can point me to the right places to read up on this which I likely have missed, it would be greatly appreciated.

Aeon Tech has not been a big subscriber to the "Release the .bin" group. They embed their .bin code inside the .exe they release on their website.

I have seen instructions on how to extract that into a .bin, but it was not for the faint of heart.

I have upgraded my array of MultiSensor 6's using the .exe running on a Virtual PC via a joined Aeon ZStick. By that I mean I did not first Exclude the MS6, do the upgrade, then re-Include it. I just skipped over those steps and went straight to upgrading over the air.

So can you point me to the instructions to extract the file? I have an Aeotec stick. Could you point me to or share instructions on how you did it?

Just poking this one again. Anybody out there have instructions I haven’t located yet for updating these Aeotec devices without excluding them and re-pairing them? I do have an Aeotec stick if that helps.
