Aeon Labs Smart Appliance switch dashboard issue

I have about 7 or 8 Aeon Labs smart appliance switches - they are these ones (Gen 1):

I've had these for years on Vera Lite, Vera Edge, Smartthings, and now Hubitat. They pair first try every time (Device Type = Aeotec Smart Energy Switch). In Hubitat, if I go into the device and do on/off/etc. it works without fail. I have it connected to google assistant, and it works without fail. Used within Rule Machine, they work without fail.

However - when I put the device as a switch on a dashboard, none of these work. I press the switch button, it just says "sending" and never does anything, and never changes from "sending". I am at a loss as to why.

Side note: if I switch it to "Aeon Outlet" device type, it works just fine - but then I lose the energy meter. So the problem seems to be this device type and the functionality of this device type within dashboards.
