I had some of my Leviton Dimmer's setup to change dim level when mode changes. but what I found was that if the light was off and the mode changed, then the light would turn on. I really only need the dim level to change if the light is already on. Is there a way to prevent the dimmer from sending the dim command if the light is off or maybe this option could be added to mode lighting.
Restrictions do exactly what you're asking for. What app are you using for this (RM, Simple Lighting, etc)? Can you post a screenshot?
I'm not familiar with mode lighting. You might try either Rule Machine or Simple Lighting, they both have restriction sections where you can do what you're trying to accomplish.
Okay so I figured out the issue. I suspect this may be a possible bug or it just needed to be refreshed.
I also have motion lighting apps setup and some of them have the option "Override for Level only" enabled. So I disabled this option and then changed modes, and sure enough the light did not turn on even with the "Adjust Levels When Mode Changes" option enabled for my mode lighting apps.
But after re-enabling the "override for Level only" option now the light does not turn on when the mode changes as intended, So I suspect it I may have been able to just hit "done" and it would have fixed the issue. I tested this with multiple dimmers and it seems to be working properly now.
Looks like the issue actually was related to only the "adjust level when mode changes" option. The "override for Level only" is not the problem. Unfortunately the light still comes on when the mode changes, I suspect there may not be a way to prevent this, since I believe these dimmers turn on when a level command is sent.
Maybe there is a way to implement an option for "only adjust level if light is on", Not sure if this could be added to mode lighting.
Bump just wonder if a dev could chime in here if its possible to have an option to only adjust level if light is already on.
I know this is really old but were you ever able to do this outside of Rule Manager? Thanks.
There is an option in Motion/Mode Lighting now for this function.
I found that out. Excellent.
