I’m trying to add a second hub to my existing system so that I can do hub mesh. When I try to add the new hub which is a C8 The set up tool won’t find it. It only finds my existing hub. Am I doing something wrong? Everything is plugged in and the light is green on the new hub.
@charlesrblack press and hold the network reset button on the bottom of the hub for 7 or 8 seconds with a toothpick or paperclip. (It will be the only round hole out of all teh square ones)
Make sure that the network cable is plugged into the same switch as your existing one. If it's not, make sure that they are both on the same subnet.
All of that is correct. I did the network reset and still the same thing
Download Angry ip scanner and see if you can see it on the network.,..
Also you can check your router devices list and look for they hub on there to find the IP it got.
I use eero so I can see it as hardwired and online
Just went direct to the up address. Said it was a corrupt database and did a soft reset
Is the eero using the same subnet as your other hub and your pc? Pulling power constantly without shutting down can cause the corrupt DB.
Isn't this a new hub?
It is. I had big issues getting it setup, but it seemed to fix the issue and I got it added.
The database issue may have been from you unplugging it a bunch of times. Could have been a not exactly new device.
Did it seem brand new in the box? I would check your zwave details page and make sure there are not old devices in there. Amazon has been known to re sell returned hubs even though HE told them not to.
If zwave is clean and you were able to register it you should be fine.
I bought it from Hubitat. I’m sure the database issue was from times I tried to add it unsuccessfully. Either way, doing the soft reset solved the issue. I’m up and running now.
I can’t seem to get my other hub to see the new one for hub mesh, but that’s another topic.
To troubleshoot Hub Mesh connections, make sure you have at least one device on each hub enabled for Hub Mesh.
Try:
- Rebooting both hubs
- Open Hub Mesh in Settings on each hub and click the Synchronize Now button
- You can also try disabling Hub Mesh on each hub, reboot both hubs, and then re-enable Hub Mesh
Hub Mesh uses mDNS so both devices need to be on the same subnet / VLAN to work without special configuration to forward mDNS. Make sure neither hub is connected to a special isolated IoT vlan (some new routers are coming with this built in now).
I’m not sure what to check… though I know I only have one network and no guest network
Old (main) hub ip = XXX.YYY.Z.38
New hub ip = XXX.YYY.Z.219
Edit: weird… I just checked it and now it’s showing up. I’m not sure why it took so long, but I think it’s working now
