After receiving a warranty replacement (now Z-Wave Plus), I had trouble pairing it with the hub. I finally got it to connect after several pairing/unpairing attempts. It now communicates but the lock icon shows up in red on the device list.
Is this indicative of some kind of error? What can I try?
Specifically, you should see "Current States" on the device detail page -- the "lock" attribute in particular -- update as you lock or unlock the device. If you don't, it's apparently not actually communicating, or at least not its status back to the hub. (These models are notoriously problematic for various things, this sometimes being one, and are not on Hubitat's compatibility list for that reason -- but many people do get them to work successfully.)
If that's good, keep in mind that the "Devices" list does not refresh in real time, so the status you see is reflected only as of page load time. Again, red isn't a problem; it's just the color of the "unlocked" icon on this page. If it's working fine as tested above, then all is good!
Yes, I have two Schlage deadbolts and not happy with them. Always something not quite right. I had a 10 year old Kwikset that never had an issue that whole time. Now with Schlage there always seems to be something (premature battery drain, difficulty setting codes & deleting codes, LCM doesn't always work, can't change code length from Hubitat, lousy membrane keypad instead of tactile buttons....).
I bought Schlage so I could rekey it to my mechanical locks and have every lock the same key. That actually works fine.
I have since learned you can buy replacement keyways for both Kwikset and Yale to make them a Schlage keyway (SC1). So if anyone out there wants Schlage key compatibility get a Yale or a Kwikset and buy the conversion keyway. Wish I knew this earlier.
It seems to be working and communicating correctly now. As a test, it was red (unlocked), I went and manually locked, went back and refreshed the page, and it was now green (locked). Yea!
