I'm just starting to play with Matter, I have some Tapo plugs. My understanding is that Matter allows a single device to be part of multiple independent fabrics.
I currently have one plug added to Hubitat, works perfectly fine. I'd like to now add this plug to HomeKit directly - e.g. not through Hubitat's HomeKit integration. I want it to be part of two fabrics - Hubitat and HomeKit.
I know this is a Hubitat forum, but I figured you folks might have an idea of how to make this happen. If it's possible.
Edit: Hub is a C8 on the latest firmware, if that matters ( )
How did you add the device to Hubitat? If using the community integration, that would have to be directly via Wi-Fi and the custom app/driver code, not via Matter. If you want to add it to Matter (regardless of controller), I'm not sure if that's possible without resetting the device, but as long as it is, it seems like that should work. You could then leave it as-is on Hubitat or remove that and bring it in via Matter instead -- the latter being your only option if a reset happens to indeed be necessary, i.e., if this isn't possible to change on a device you've already set up in the Tapo app. (I don't have any of these in particular, but I haven't run into a device yet that has made me--just wouldn't be surprised if some existed.)
The above is also assuming you mean adding to HomeKit via Matter; if there are older generations of these (besides the Kasa line from the same brand) that support HomeKit only and not Matter, I'm extra-unsure.
