Adding Innr repeaters: Do I need to reset and redo my whole ZigBee mesh?

Hello everyone, I am new to home automation and recently purchased a HE device to control my GLEDOPTO smart bulbs. I had been using these bulbs because they also came with remote controls that didn't need a hub.

With HE, I have been getting into the weeds of ZigBee and found some reliability issues as the number of bulbs approached 20. I discovered that I should have set-up repeaters throughout my apartment (~720sqft), and have since ordered 4 Innr wall plugs which seemed to be the recommendation from the community.

Will I need to reset and redo my entire ZigBee set-up to include these repeaters into the mix? I tried searching but it has been unclear. I was thinking that simply installing the repeaters in appropriate locations, shutting down HE and waiting for >20 minutes, and letting the mesh sort itself out would do. But will this actually work?

The problem with some bulbs is that they will try to repeat, but don’t do a good job for some reason. Because of this, the recommendation is to keep the bulbs alone on their own hub (can be Hubitat or Hue) and like them via Hub Mesh or the Hue Integration to the other devices.

I’m not familiar with GLEDOPTO bulbs, so not sure if they would have this issue or not…

Now to your question, the repeaters just need to be paired (they will pair as “device” and that’s okay). The other devices on the mesh will find them and start repeating through them. As I understand it, shutting down the hub for >20 min will accelerate that process. No need to reset and your Zigbee set-up.

No, just pair them, and let the mesh work itself out. Like mentioned, doing that shutdown for 20 minutes to put them in panic mode can force all the nodes to look for new routes, but it isn't strictly necessary.

Thank you. I will consider whether to get a second HE hub for this purpose, or otherwise keep all other home automation devices on a Z-Wave network. I don't have anything else but lighting, so my options are still open.
