? about zwave nodes

I moved my HE location and did a zwave repair.
In the logs I noticed that the nodes are missing . Like it starts out at node 2 then goes up to the next node 3 ond so on. However it jumps from 6 to 8, then 9 to 12 and also other skips along the line.
Is this normal? Shouldn't all the nodes be sequential?

You’ll have gaps in the ZWave node id’s if there were any problems during the pairing process (failed pairings)

If you pair a lot of ZWave stuff, and you hit the ceiling for ZWave pairing ids, they’ll wrap around and fill these gaps... so it’s nothing to worry about.

Thanks, good to know.

Z-wave repairs skip battery powered devices. So you should be seeing only your mains powered nodes, and that wouldn’t imply any inherent problem with the repair process.

The z-wave repair will only access line-powered (plugged in) devices and will skip the battery devices, unless one happens to be awake and talking just at the right time during the repair process when its called.

Ok.Thanks.
I don't use any battery devices.

you say it jumps from 6 to 8, what is device 7?

The nodes jump.

I see. As I understand it, HE numbers devices sequentially as you add them, but if you remove one, or pairing fails as mentioned above, it will leave a gap in the number order. Nothing to worry about. Just refer to the list of devices on the z-wave repair page and watch the logs as the repair process walks through each one. If it seems to get stuck on a device, sending four "Repair setting SUC route" messages, then hangs for a bit, before moving on to the next device, this means that device may be out of range of the mesh.

I'm on node 101 even though I only have about 30 zwave devices (half being battery powered)......I've had to do ALOT of repairing (mainly zwave locks which took up the bulk) anytime you unpair a device and repair it goes to the next node number.

This. If there’s actually a device being skipped, check your z-wave settings page and something will be assigned to node 7. Have you noticed whether something is actually wrong with any of your z-wave devices, btw?
