A question: Direct or indirect device connection between devices and the hub

Hi Guys,

I have recently made a (successful) effort to get more devices to connect with each other in order to improve the zigbee network. My understanding is that it is better to have devices connect to each other and to the hub as this makes the probability of a signal getting through higher (?).

During this process I have had two previously relieble Philips Hue remotes go from working very reliable to now being unpredictable to a point where they are virtually useless.

The Philips Hue remotes behavior may off course be unrelated to the network change, but can there be any downsides to having a higgelty piggelty network, rather than one to one connections between hub and devices?

Cheers,

Like z-wave, zigbee will pick the best route available be it directly to the hub or using a neighbor. It constantly calculates that best route. So I wouldn't worry too much about it.

This indicates neighbor may be having issues. One thing you could try is to remove the device from hubitat and re add it and see if it eventually picks up a new route or pair it next to the closest repeater (battery devices don't repeat)
