3rd party dash

Thanks for your feedback. If I may suggest, why not updating the first list you posted, instead of creating a new post. It would be much easier for everyone to follow.

I pay subs for sharptools, plus a few other apps/services. Happy to do so.

It's not people leaving - it's people who would purchase in the first place.

You wouldn't think so, but there was a post about that here just the other day, and the same day there was a Reddit post in the Hubitat (unofficial) subreddit which several users said the same thing, that I added to that post.

It seems like some people just have a few issues happen, and it gets them frustrated and thinking about if they want to stay with Hubitat or not, and they mention Dashboards are just icing on the cake on their list of reasons to leave.

Leaving based only on dashboards is probably not all that common, and most of it seems to be frustrated threats about leaving, but for everyone who has actually moved on to another platform, Dashboards were certainly on their list for why they moved on.

I for one don't think I would leave just for that but my wife is surely pushing for it after seing a friends HA dashboard. In the new house she wants 2 mounted smart home control panels (not a tablet mounted on the wall). So that she can see at a glance different parameters, garage lights, garage door state, door lock states, weather, etc. She is all in for the smart home, maybe even more than I am, but that was one of the requirements and the default or new dashboard is a no go! And it needs to be 100% local, that's my requirement

Sounds a lot like the original free SmartTiles app that was released back in ~2014 for SmartThings. This was originally a Groovy source code offering from the developer behind ActionTiles, Alex Malikov. Once he and his partner monetized ActionTiles, they removed pretty much all traces of the original Groovy SmartTiles dashboard application from the web, and changed its licensing scheme to prevent its distribution.

Now that ActionTiles appears to have shut down, I wonder if Alex Malikov would consider releasing the original SmartTiles to the public to allow others to properly port it and update it for Hubitat?

Just an idea for someone to dig into if they really want a community-based dashboard solution.

Lazy/hurried typing on my part (wife has a LOOOONG to-do list for me today, playing short bit of hooky now). My thoughts apply to both existing users leaving and others not buying in the first place.

One of the greatest ideas within sharptools are the supertiles.

One single block can contain elements from multiple sources.

I'm really sorry to potentially sound dismissive, but it's difficult for me to attempt to suggest improvements when in my mind, aside from the cloud-based aspects, sharptools is pretty much perfect. Blows the competition away. I've been subbing to it since maybe 2021.

/ massive fan.

This pretty much sums up my wishlist as well. I used Smartly to help arrange my dashboards and apply styles. The legacy dashboards now allow drag/drop, so that's a step forward.

The next biggest hurdle in my mind is wrapping to fit different screens (a la Action Tiles). Yes, a pretty dashboard on a tablet may not look perfect when opened on a phone. Alternatively, set the full width to 100% of the screen and let me zoom in (can't currently zoom out to full width) or turn my phone landscape.

Side note: I've wondered why there hasn't been an app/option emerge from the community just as other apps have extended or replaced some built-in options. I'm sure it would be a pretty big project.

It will also need access permissions to run an http server on the hub that serve dashboards. AFAICT, this is not possible in Hubitat's current security model.
