2nd Hub Question - Newbee

Sorry this may be a silly question, taking advantage of hub sale I ordered a 2nd hub. Here is my question, doe the second hub need to be hard-wired into the local network? Or can it communicate wirelessly with 1st hub which is wired into the network?

Sorry if this question is too silly. A total newbee here

All hubs have to be connected via Lan cable to your local network.

Thank you.

Follow up question

I have a Eero mesh network. My current Hubitat hub is hard wired to the Eero hub. Can I hardwire the 2nd Hubitat hub to an Erro repeater? Looking to extend the range of my Z-wave network

Yes.

It will create a second z-wave network that you can use seamlessly with your existing network using HubConnect.

@aaiyar thanks, good news I may get one more hub to insure good z-wave coverage. Beats having lots of un-needed plugs just to have repeaters

Well, it really does not. One really well designed zwave mesh is much better than 3 weak ones. That being said what you are trying to do may work just fine in your house - it just depends on how many zwave repeating devices you have on each mesh vs distance to the hub.

@JasonJoel Good point. Probably a combination of both will be a better solution. Thanks
